Before you buy
What CalcyBill does not do.
Software that only lists what it can do is asking you to find the rest out yourself. These are the things people ask about that the honest answer to is no, or not yet, or deliberately never.
01
Deliberately, and it will not change
These are decisions. Arguing us out of them would make the software worse.
It does not file your GST for you
It prepares everything — taxable value, the CGST/SGST/IGST split, a breakdown by rate, the HSN summary, CSV for your accountant, and e-invoice and e-way bill payloads for the portal's bulk upload. It does not submit. Filing on your behalf needs IRP credentials or a paid GSP, and neither belongs baked into a till on a shop counter.
It does not let you delete a bill
A bill can be cancelled, and then it stays on record with its number, its reason and the name of whoever cancelled it. A till that can erase a bill can erase evidence, and a missing invoice number is the first thing an auditor asks about.
It does not sync stock levels between counters
It syncs the movements and adds them up. Syncing a level loses a sale the moment two tills sell the same item at once, and it does so silently, which is the worst way for a stock figure to be wrong.
It does not phone home to check its licence
The key is verified on your own machine. A till that needs a server's permission to bill is a till that stops when the line goes down, which is the exact thing this software exists not to do.
02
Not yet
Real gaps. They are on the list, and we would rather you knew the order.
There is no double entry
The books are real and they balance against the bills behind them, but there is no general ledger, no capital account and no journal in the accountant's sense. The Position screen says so on its face rather than calling itself a balance sheet. If your accountant works in Tally, the export is there — and that is an honest admission of where the books finish.
There is no phone app for the shop
The owner's dashboard runs in a phone browser and installs to the home screen, and a phone can already scan into the counter over your own WiFi. What does not exist is a full app on the Play Store.
E-invoicing is a file, not an API
You upload the payload through the portal's bulk tools and enter the IRN back. It is a few minutes a day rather than instant, and it is the trade-off for not putting portal credentials inside a till.
Remote billing is an owner-only trial
Billing from a phone against a branch's catalogue works, with its own WEB invoice series and stock that cannot go below zero. It stays owner-only until the conflict queue is visible on screen — the rare case where counter sales exhaust stock before a queued web bill imports.
The installer is not signed yet
Windows will warn you that the publisher is unknown when you download it. That is SmartScreen reacting to a new file, not to anything in it — and the SHA-256 on the download page is there so you can check your copy against what we actually shipped. A certificate is being arranged.
03
Things it is not
Not gaps — just the wrong shape. Better to say so than to sell you an unhappy year.
It is not a web app
It is a Windows program with its own database on your machine. There is nothing to open on a Mac, a Chromebook or a tablet as your main counter.
It is not a payment gateway
It prints a UPI QR carrying the exact amount and records how a bill was paid. The money moves through your own UPI, card machine or drawer, and CalcyBill never touches it.
It is not an ecommerce site
It bills the shop you have. It does not build you an online store, and it does not pull orders from a marketplace.
It is not free
Thirty days are, with nothing switched off. After that it is a licence, because a product nobody pays for is a product nobody can afford to support — and support is most of what you are buying.
If one of these is a deal-breaker
Tell us which. Sometimes it is on the list and we can say when; sometimes it is a decision and we will say so plainly; and sometimes the honest answer is that another program suits you better. All three are cheaper than finding out in March.
The other side of it
Everything it does do.
Six parts of a shop, all of them in the box, all of them in the trial.
