Terms & Conditions
These are the terms that apply when you download, trial, buy or use CalcyBill™. Read alongside the pricing page and the list of what the software does not do — both are referenced here rather than repeated.
1. Who these terms are between
These terms are an agreement between you (or the business you represent) and Lighthouse Ventures, a sole proprietorship registered in India at 112/3, Prabhat Road, Pune 411004, Maharashtra, India, which builds and sells CalcyBill™. By downloading, installing, activating a licence for, or using CalcyBill™, you accept these terms.
2. The free trial
CalcyBill™ can be downloaded and run for thirty days with every feature switched on, without a card and without creating an account. The trial exists so a shop can bill a real day on it before paying anything — it is the opportunity to decide the software is right for you, referenced again in the refund terms below.
3. Buying a licence
A licence is sold against a named business, on one of the plans described at Pricing (Counter, Shop, Chain), and by one of two methods: a one-time payment for a licence that does not expire, with maintenance optional from the second year, or a yearly payment that keeps the licence current for twelve months at a time. The plan and the price you agreed to are the ones shown on the pricing page (or quoted to you directly) at the time you paid — see Questions for how the founding-price discount works and when it closes.
A licence is issued as a key, tied to the business named on the order, and sent to the email address given at the time of request. Keys are checked and issued by a person, not an automated system — see the Digital Delivery Policy for the timeline.
4. What the licence lets you do
A licence is a right to install and use CalcyBill™ for the named business’s own billing, stock and accounting — it is not a sale of the software itself, and it does not transfer any ownership of the program, its source code, its design or its name. You may not:
- resell, sublicense, or hand the software to another business under your key, except through the partner arrangement described at Sell CalcyBill;
- reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code, except where Indian law gives you that right regardless of this clause;
- remove, obscure, or alter the CalcyBill™ branding, licence checks, or attribution;
- use the software for any business other than the one the licence names.
5. Updates
New installers are published from time to time — see Updates for every build that has shipped, with its checksum. Installing a newer build is covered by the same licence; there is one installer for every trade and every plan, and a shop is never asked to pay again just to move to the current version.
6. CalcyBill™ Cloud
Cloud is an optional addition to the counter, off unless you switch it on, and never a dependency of billing. Using it is covered by these same terms; the specifics of what it does and does not do are described in full there and at Privacy Policy.
7. What the software does not do
What it doesn’t do lists, honestly, the things CalcyBill™ deliberately does not attempt, the things that are genuinely missing, and the things it simply is not — including that it does not itself file returns with the GST portal and does not keep double-entry books. That page is part of these terms: nothing here should be read as a promise beyond what it states.
8. No warranty beyond what the law requires
CalcyBill™ is provided on an “as is” basis. Lighthouse Ventures does not warrant that the software is error-free or uninterrupted, beyond any guarantee that cannot lawfully be excluded under Indian consumer-protection law. Faults are taken seriously and fixed — see Reporting a fault — but this is a statement of practice, not an unlimited guarantee.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent the law allows, Lighthouse Ventures’s total liability arising from your use of CalcyBill™ is limited to the amount you paid for the licence in the twelve months before the claim, and Lighthouse Ventures is not liable for indirect, incidental, or consequential loss (including lost profit or lost data) arising from use of the software. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited under Indian law.
10. Termination
A licence may be revoked if these terms are materially breached — most realistically, reselling or redistributing the software outside the partner programme, or removing its licensing checks. Ending a licence does not affect data already stored in %APPDATA%\CalcyBill\ on your own machine, which remains yours.
11. Changes to these terms
These terms may be updated as the product changes; the date at the top of this page is the last revision. Continuing to use CalcyBill™ after a change means you accept the updated terms.
12. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of India, and any dispute is subject to the jurisdiction of the courts at Pune.
